Grandma came to California!
Last week was Dave's week off. We had a fun week. Sunday Dave's mom came to town. There is nobody in the world like grandma -- she is wonderful. We really enjoyed visiting with her here Monday and Tuesday. It was so kind of her to follow the kids around at their various activites and tell them how wonderful they are! She got to see Calvin's soccer game where he scored a goal, we went to Alexey's music class where she had a solo. She did a fun bookmark craft with the kids. Played with the girls, had some deep conversations with Calvin at the beach and loved on little Jo. oh, and don't forget snuggled with Tressel. It was great. Tuesday we went to Coronado dog beach with Tressel and everyone and stopped for the best ice cream in San Diego - MooTime. AMAZING! While we were at the beach my keys fell out of my pocket. It was a HUGE miracle that I found a lose spare key that I didn't even know we had in the back of the car. As Linda said, "whoever was praying for that, can you pray for some other things for me?" I never found my keys. It was a windy windy day and wherever they dropped I'm sure they were immediatly buried in the sand.
A few pics from the beach.

I loved seeing Calvin and grandma chatting on the beach.
MooTime Ice Cream! EVERYONE LOVED IT!! even little Jo!
Wednesday we met Joe and Janell and their family at Disneyland with Linda. It was a fun day. Alexey is just shy of 40 inches and for space mountian, thunder mountian and a few others, the height it 40 inches. We put some granola bars in her shoes to give her 1/4 of an inch so that she could get on those rides. She was so fun at Disneyland because it was all so new to her and so fun. She was happy to try everything and thought the rollercoasters were great! She loved the bumper cars too and laughed 'til she cried on those. She liked everything! It was so fun to see her experience that for the first time. Calvin had a good day too. He was able to go on all the fun rollercoasters and had his first time on an upside down ride with screamin' California. He went on it 3x in a row. He was remarkably well behaved all day. He finally fell apart around 7:30pm but we felt we had a very successful day with him and were overall very happy that we had absolutely no problems with him until that late in the day. Clare loved being with her cousin Emiley and enjoyed the Disney experience. She is afraid of everything so she does not enjoy the rides much at all. She didn't try any of the roller coasters or pirates. She did try haunted mansion and all of the kiddie type rides. She is a funny girl. love her! Little Jo was a good traveler. She went on a bunch of the rides (I was suprised at how many rides babies can go on) and took a couple of cat naps in the stroller.
There were very few crowds in the park the day we went. The forcast for the day was rain during the day with thunderstroms at night. I wonder if some people decided not to come becuase of the forecast becuase it was a pretty empty day. Since I really hate crowds I was so grateful. We waited 5-10 minutes for most rides, even the new ones. Probably the longest line was for Tower of Terror.
It was my first time seeing California adventure park. I thought it was pretty neat. I liked the new rides there. My favorite was tower of terror!
Going with Joe and Janell was nice becuase they are Disney experts. One thing I learned from them was that you can get a stroller pass if you are taking turns watching a baby so that one person waits in line and then the second person can go back to the front of the line when the first person is done. This is how all the adults were able to rotate through the fun roller coaster with so many little kids.
We left the park around 8:30 and got home late! The kids talked about their favorite parts of the day for the first little while in the car and then all fell asleep for the second half of the ride home. All in all a great day and such a special treat for us.
Jo and Grandma!
Clare, Alexey and cute Kate visiting Tigger while big kids were on spash mountian.

How cute--Dave wore his Ohio stuff and Calvin wore his "Worst State Ever" shirt.
You did a great job documenting all your fun! What cute photos. I think Grandma Linda should move to CA:)
Love Jo with ice cream all over her face. That was a hilarious picture! I'll have to show the boys all the Disneyland photos. Colin is going to freak out over the Jedi in training one!
Did you watch last weeks Modern Family? ha ha.. the mom Claire lost her keys at the beach too.. glad you had a spare! Great pictures!
So glad you had such a fun time together! Looks like it was a blast (except for losing your keys!).
