Mr. Ring Bearer

In March Calvin will be the a ring bearer at a wedding so we got him a new suit, shirt and shoes for the occasion. This morning we practiced!

We used Dave's real ring to practice so it would be more like the real deal :) He didn't want to try with a pillow this time so he just held it in his hand.

Here is a closeup of his sweet shoes! They are size 9. He says they are too tight so we need to go back to the store and get #10. I don't know if it is true -- they appear to fit just fine but he is set on having shoes with the number 10 on them.

What do you think Pete and Jessica?

A Corn Dog Story

7am: Calvin makes a corn dog for Clare. He got it out of the freezer, put it in the microwave and cooked it for 1 minute all by himself.
7:30am: Clare ate oatmeal for breakfast and the corn dog is forgotten.
5pm: Dave gets home from work and Denise goes to bed (sick yesterday, but all better now) and leaves dave in charge of the kids for dinner, bath and bedtime.
6:30pm: Dave notices a corn dog in the microwave and thinks to himself "Oh, Denise didn't tell me she made a corndog....well, it feels like it has cooled off......" Calvin eats the corndog and shares with Clare.
9pm: Dave asks Denise when she made the corn dog and learns that it was nearly 12 hours old when he fed it to the kids!
8am: Kids both made it through the night without throwing up or dying from corn dog poisoning.

Happy Birthday to Calvin

Calvin turned 4 years old on Saturday. We celebrated his birthday by going to a fun gym with several of his friends.

We spent one morning at the dr. office. They gave the kids sucker's to keep them happy. They also had fun playing in, under and on the exam table. It was a LONG wait!!

Calvin got a stomach bug this week. Poor thing! He was sick for half a day and then was all better. At one point he fell sleep in his bowl (it was clean though, don't worry)!!

Clare loves this little Elmo chair. I thought this picture of her reading an Elmo book was darling.

Sledding

We got about 6 inches of snow yesterday afternoon and today was COLD but sunny and beautiful. Calvin loved going down the hill all by himself once he got the hang of it! After sledding we came home and Calvin learned about the wonderful world of hot chocolate!

Clare wasn't too impressed with sledding so she decided to spend the rest of the day in the car eating peanut butter m&m's (reces pieces).

Tomorrow we are celebrating Calvin's birthday. I made a cake this morning and left it out to cool for an hour or so. When I left the room to change over the laundry Calvin stuck his hand in the middle of the cake to take a little taste and make a big mess! What a stinker. Tomorrow morning I guess we'll make another one. He is very excited to have his birthday cake with a #4 candle on top!

Fun Times . . .

MONSTERS ON ICE!

Calvin and Evan enjoying the show!

ICE SKATING!!

Calvin's checking out the rink and wearing ice skates for the first time!

Here is Calvin being dragged around the ice by Dave. He wasn't having a lot of fun but he did better once we took off the helmet and went around with 2 parents so that we could steady him from both sides.

Clare had a good time ice skating. At first we took her around the ice with just her shoes on but we were told nobody was allowed on the ice unless they had skates on. So, we got her some skates. She wears size 4 shoes and the smallest skates were size 8 so they're way too big, but she LOVED it!

Calvin and Clare entertained themselves one morning by dumping out a bag of rice and playing with it. They are starting to play more together and do a better job getting along -- especially when they're getting into trouble!

Here is a picture of Dave on Match Day. He is talking to one of the deans at Ohio State who is telling him the news of where he matched. He looks a little like he's going to cry because at this point he doesn't know if/where he matched and he's really nervous!
