Happiness = Water, Sticks and Rocks (and Dave being home early)

The kids favorite thing to do is through rocks in the water. Here's Clare showing you how it's done!

Kids come up with the craziest ideas. Out of the blue, Clare began packing muddy rocks down her shirt. Dave asked me "Kids are always imitating what they see at home. Have you been stuffing your bra?".

Surfin' Dave

I forgot to include this picture on the waterfall post. It is one of my favorites.

So Sad....

Today I booked my one-way ticket to move away.

Waterfall

A couple of days ago we went on a walk/hike to a nearby waterfall. It has been so nice to do things outside now that it is warmer -- everyone is happy to be outside to play.

Smile! :)

Clare was not afriad to touch and play in the water.

On the way home Clare was so hungry she decided to eat her dirty feet!

Quotes of the day!

From Dave: "Did you make this for dinner just because you're mad at me?" ( word to the wise -- this is not a good way to make the wife happy -- a simple thanks for dinner would do much better)

Also from Dave: "Guess how many cavities I have? SEVEN! But, that is not my record in one visit. I have had 12 at one time. 30 in my life."

From Calvin: "I don't love Jesus, I love Evan." (We are going to teach him that he can love both of them.)

What's New?

The kids are being burritos!
Calvin and Clare singing ring around the rosies.

C and C eating breakfast at the kitchen table.

Calvin loves to practice his letters. He can write D, B, A, X, T, I, H, K, L, M, W, -- basically all the ones with straight lines.

Clare has learned to climb. She spends 90% of her awake time sitting on a kitchen chair - eating, playing or just hanging out (or climbing onto the table from there)! She is a funny girl! She loves to be a part of it all. She has learned a few words. "yeah" "cheese" for the camera, "no" and "all done". She loves to sing ring around the rosies and says "ashes, ashes" while dancing around the room and gets a thrill if anyone will join her by holding hands and singing along.

Calvin has been singing I Will Be Here. It is a song by Steven Curtis Chapman but we have a CD of Pete ane Jessica singing it. They also sang it at their wedding. It is song #15 and we have listened to it about 15 million times in the last week or so. Calvin sings along to most of it, even when jessica sings up to a high F. IT is a crack up!! I acually really like the song. It has a nice message for a wedding. Here are they lyrics.

If tomorrow morning when you wake up, the sun does not appear
I will be here
If in the dark we lose sight of love, hold my hand and have no fear
I will be here

I will be hear
When you feel like being quiet
When you want to speak your mind, I will listen
And, I will be here
When the laughter turns to cryin'
Through the winning, losing and tryin'
We'll be together
I will be here

Tomorrow morning if you wake up and the future is unclear
I will be here
Just as sure as seasons were made for change
Our lifetime was made for these years
I will be here

I will be here
you can cry on my shoulder
When the mirror tells us we're older
I will hold you
and I will be here
to watch you grow in beauty
and tell you all the things you are to me
we'll be together
I will be here

I will be true to the promise I have made
to you and to the One who gave you to me.

tomorrow morning, when you wake up,
if the sun does not appear
I will be here

About me!

Quite a while ago Emily flagged me to post something about me. Maybe it was a 6 interesting things about me or a top 100. I can't remember but I decided I'd give it a try. I typically use my blog to stay in touch with the out of town family who want to see the kids but I think it would be fun to do some of the traditional blogging as well. So, here goes. 6 things about me.

1. My most embarassing moment. Now, get ready with your box of tissues becuase you'll probably laugh so hard that you'll cry. I have never told anyone this one before. ..... One time I drove away from the gas pump with the pump still attached to my car!!!!! HUMILIATING. TERRIBLE and did I mention EMBARASSING!!!!! I was lucky that I didn't break the car or the pump. Well the gas station was a bit damaged, I guess. The pump and hose did detach from the rest of the gas station but there was no permanant damage done. I was pretty lucky for those reasons and the fact that the gas station was so busy that day that the one lady working the station didn't have time to think or really check it out when I went in to tell her what happened. This took place when I was living in Utah and I was in the suburban. It was probably 5 years ago. In my defense (can there be a defense?) the reason I did this is becuase the lady behind me in line for gas at the busy gas station was yelling at me to hurry. Suburbans take 40 gallons so it takes a long while to fill up. I guess I was pretty flustered.

2. I was an all-state soccer player in high school. I played 4 years on the varsity team. My senior year I scored or assisted every game winning goal. In college I decided not to play soccer because I wanted to do a science major and graduate fast. I didn't think that it would be feasible to do soccer and have chemistry, biology lab, etc since they were all afternoon. I did graduate in 3 years. But, a lot of times I wish I had played soccer too.

3. My junior and senior year of high school I was the drum major of our 380 member marching band. I loved doing it. I never thought that I was a nerd for doing it -- but I guess I probably was. (Dave has enlightened me on the subject so now I know that band people are nerds. He was one of those people who was mortified to show up anywhere in a band uniform.)

4. Dave and I have known each other for almost 10 years. We met early in the fall of 1997. We dated for a couple of months before our first kiss in November of that year. We've been married for 6 and a half years.

5. Sorry if this isn't intersting. I'm having trouble thinking of things to say. Oh, here's one. My most embarassing moment before I drove off with the gas pump happened my freshman year of high school. I threw up on the white house lawn. I like to tell people that the reason why was becuase the picture of pres. clinton on the way out made me sick but really I was just over tired. My soccer team took a trip out to DC for a tournament and we stayed up really late one night. The next morning was our white house tour and so it was the lack of sleep that did it to me. I went home and took a nap and then I was find the rest of the weekend.

6. I love calendars! One of my favorite things to do is take down the calendar off the wall and plan something, count weeks 'til something is coming up, dream or whatever. If Dave wants to make me happy he knows one way to do it is just sit down with me and my calendar and talk!

Better Picture

Here is the picture of Clare that has been photo edited and much improved. My friend Kelli did it for me! :)

The wedding weekend

Here we are waiting for the dolphin show at sea world. It got pretty warm while we were sitting there waiting. Calvin insisted on keeping his sweatshirt on even though he was way too hot!
Clare and Shianne. Shainne loaned Clare here little purse for a couple of days and she loved it!

Here's Clare wandering around waiting for the rehersal dinner. She loved the water fountians! The weather and scenery were beautiful!

After the wedding we had a sit-down lunch. I went to visit with some friends and came back to find Calvin sound asleep at the table. After his little nap he was much happier and was ready to bust a move on the dance floor.

Above, Clare is dancing with Shi. Too bad there's red eye, otherwise it'd be great.

Calvin took off his tie and jacket as well as his shoes and socks and went to town on the dance floor. He danced for about an hour, non stop!

I don't have any pictures of the actual wedding because I was busy during that time. Calvin did great walking down the asile and Clare was darling in her little white dress. I hope that friends/family who have better pictures can forward them on to us. Pete and Jessica and he wedding were all beautiful and everything went really well!
