We are trying to pack in as much fun as possible in our last few weeks in Ohio. We have seen or will see the zoo, a baseball game, cedar point (amusement park), chuck -e-cheese, some great metroparks, cirque de soeil. When we don't have a grand activity planned we go to the library or the park to play at the playground, play tennis or I rollerblade.
Meanwhile, we're getting ready to move. Collectively, we have about 10 Dr. appointments this month. We've gotten some work done on the cars to get them ready and we're trying to pack up the house and de-junk it at the same time. We have already packed almost all of the toys and it is funny that the kids don't care at all. Maybe it is becuase it is warm and we are always outside playing with squirt guns. otherwise, dave has been right all along when he says that kids don't need toys.
Calvin is 99.9% daytime potty trained now. He goes all by himself and is basically accident free. It is great. Dave had an funny experience with him at the baseball game the other day. Dave took Calvin to the bathroom and when they came back to the seats dave said "I wouldn't kiss his cheek if I were you." this got me to wondering what had happened in the bathroom so Dave related the story (dave wrote it). Before we start the story i should mention that Calvin likes to stand up to go to the bathroom. Warning: if this is already too much information don't read on. First Calvin walks right up to the urinal and sticks his head into it to look at the water – dave is nearly gagging already – and hollers at Calvin to get his head out. Then Dave looks over to check on calvin who is now resting his head against the urinal, his cheek on the porcelain like a pillow while he waits to start going. Then Dave says, “Calvin, what are you doing? Don’t touch the urinal!!!!” Calvin says, “Dad I don’t need to pee, I need to poop” and with his pants still down around his ankles waddles from the urinals directly over to the bathroom stalls weaving through a crowd of men waiting in line for the stalls. He completely disregards the line of people and waddles right into an opening stall as someone comes out. Dave apologizes to the line of people because Calvin was in the door already before he could catch him. They laugh and don’t really mind. When in the stall Dave sees right away that the toilet is all wet (because men don’t put the seat up to do their business), so he starts to get some toilet paper to wipe off the seat and cover it for Calvin. But, before he can gather up the toilet paper to do so Calvin has already put both palms face down on the seat and is scooting his little butt into position. There is no concern or concept of hygiene in a 4 year old. I guess the next guy in line could appreciate that Calvin went into the bathroom to clean things up a bit. So, there you have it. The trip to the bathroom with Calvin. Oh, they washed their hands afterwards of course but that hardly seems sufficient. Later he had a bath.
