dan

Dan left today for BYU. I am so sad. We will miss him so much. Who will return the red box for me? Who will babysit? Who will laugh with me when Dave or Calvin does something ridiculous? Who will laugh at me when I do something ridiculous? Who will babysit Jo while I go grocery shopping or pick up the kids from school? While we are happy for him making good choices and enjoying a productive life, we are selfishly sad to see him go. It will be a big change for us. WE are already counting down the days 'til he gets back in August for a short while before leaving on his mission. (waiting for the mission call SO EXCITING!!!!) Thanks for everything Dan, We love you!

OuR CrAZy hOuSE!!

Life at our house is nuts. It is not quiet, it is not clean, it is not abounding in love and harmony all the time.

Monday night is no exception. FHE has become a beloved tradition but I have not yet been successful in removing fighting and tears from this tradition. The crying usually starts from the moment someone says, "welcome to family home evening everyone" (. .. we used to rotate this duty but there was so much fighting Dave is the only one ever allowed to conduct. Lexey still cries over this every week.)

Last monday I asked Dave to give Calvin a father's blessing since he was starting a new school on Tuesday (and had not let dave give him a blessing to start school in the fall). Calvin was looking forward to this. Calvin, in spite of his difficulties has a very sweet spirit and is often the best behaved in the family when it comes to sitting still and participating in a lesson.

The girls are quite wiggly and tend to bounce off the walls. I warned Lex and Clare that if they were not good during the special blessing they wouldn't get ice cream. I figured that this would help them behave as they should but they were absolutely rediculous, having to be removed from the room on more than one occasion. At the end dave said, "I am going to throw them in the pool." (This is his favorite punishment for misbehavior, espeically in the winter). I assured him we already had a plan -- NO ice cream. The girls errupted in sobs and tears complete with throwing themselves on the ground and kicking and screaming. It was rediculous!! Calvin was still giving hugs and feeling warm and fuzzy and went to have his ice cream while the girls were going NUTS! It was a pretty funny and crazy scene. I am sure that someday I will have a quiet house and then I can look back on moments like these and wish I still had little kids around to keep life exciting!

Lexey loves Jo

Lex got a new doll followed by some dollie and me clothes from grandma linda. SHe loves them. She wanted to have a special photo shoot with her and her doll.

Then she thought she should have a photo shoot with her live doll (JoAnne) instead.

Jo gets tired of being man handled and wears out quickly when Lex is on the scene.

This photo makes me laugh out loud!

Lexey is crazy but she sure loves her sister!

spring break week!

This week is spring break for us. We don't have anything big planned since I have a baby who likes naps, a Calvin who likes to sit on the couch and a husband who is working and on call this week.

If Dave weren't on call I might have been a little more ambitious with my planning but as it is I am happy to have a week at home with very few obligations compared to my normal busy week.

Today I got more cleaning done in one day then I have in months! Life is so busy I find it hard to get everything done during the day that I need to (and I'm not great at cleaning after the kids go to bed)!

Mon - crafts at Poway Park

Tues - library and cleaning

Wed - Calvin has 4 appointments. I didn't mean for them to all be on the same day but it is how it worked out and I guess that is better than one a day which would take up our entire week! I have already promised him he will get a BIGGGGG treat when we're done with the day. I'm sure he'll choose In-N-Out so that is easy.

Thursday - out with friends

Friday - cabrillo

Saturday -easter egg hunt

Sunday - Easter sunday. I have no plans for this special day. Perhaps I should think about that and make some plans.

Calvin will start as his new school Tuesday after break (giving us and his new school Monday to finish up some arrangements). I am looking forward to this new adventure for him and hope we have found a good place for him. He is very excited also.
