cutest one year old on the block!

Today Alexey turned one! Yeah! She had a fun day. It all started this morning when she woke up Calvin and Clare ran into her room and jumped into her bed and sang happy birthday to her! She loved it. then Clare gave her a present. It was wrapped in wrapping paper. Calvin helped her tear it open and as he did so, he noticed that the book looked very familiar. When the book was completely revealed Calvin burst into tears because it was actually his book that clare had so generously re-gifted for Alexey! It was pretty funny. I love one year olds. They are so sweet and so easy going (unlike 6 and 3 year olds!! ha ha)

Lex is a little under the weather so she spent most of the day napping but this evening we went to a playground to play and have cake. We have the tradition in our family of giving the one year old birthday person their own personal cake to play with and eat and destroy, feed to the birds (and in Lex's case stick up her nose) to their little heart's content. Lex loved it!

It was kind of windy so we couldn't get the candle lit. We tried about 20 matches but it just wouldn't stay lit even long enough to sing "happy" of the happy birthday song.

-she looks like a doll (due to round head and no hair most likely)!
