NS dinner

Last night was the annual neurosurgery dinner to honor the graduating chief resident. It is really nice. We moved to SD just in time to go last year. This year it was a little more enjoyable since we know everyone now.
Here's the whole department, including a few past residents and faculty who always come out for this event.


A little out of focus, but beautiful.

Chiazo is the other resident that is the same year as dave. She is super nice and from Michigan (booooo Michigan). The way the program here is set up the second years (dave and chiazo) along with the chief resident(year 7) will run the service at the main hospital. This starts at the end of the month. Other residents rotate through but are mainly assigned to other hospitals such as the children's hospital (year 3) or a private hospital(year 4). Some residents are off service doing research (years 5-6 of the program).


I post this even though it is out of focus so you can see how tall Chiazo is. Dave is always sure to mention that he is taller. Actually, I'm pretty sure he is on his tippy toes to be sure to appear taller. Dave is 6'2'' and Chiazo is 6'1'' + she wears heals!

There are 2 years in the future that dave will have an active part in this event. Next year, as the outgoing jr. resident he and Chiazo will be in charge of MC-ing the party for their outgoing chief and doing a "roast". Then in 2014 Dave will be the graduating chief!
