baby is a girl

We had our ultrasound this week. Dave and Clare came with me. ( had they not come I might have been able to not find out the gender). Dave ended up having a case cancelled in the morning so he met us at the appt which was right next door to his hospital. It worked out nicely for us.

The ultrasound tech didn't let me watch the entire ultrasound. She told me at the beginning that she'd get all the pics she needed and then at the end show me a little bit. Dave, however, watched over her shoulder the entire time. When she rolled over the bum area I could read the cute look on Dave's face which told me it was a girl. It was a smile/grimace mingled in one! Dave and Calvin were both hoping for a boy! Clare bear really wanted a gril! Lex still calls the baby her little brother. I was surprised too. I thought it'd be a boy also. Dave came from a family of all brothers and I was the only girl in my family. (and a tom boy at that)! We are not sure what we are going to do with 3 girls!

Calvin was very sad to learn it was a girl at first but has already adjusted to knowing that he has 3 sisters, almost. He is helping think of names. I have been telling him that he must be pretty special to have 3 sisters and that big brothers are supposed to watch over and take really good care of little sisters.

Clare wanted to come home and unpack some baby clothes so I let her look at all the 0-3 month girl clothes I have. She unpacked everything and organized it into categories and put it away in her room. She wants the baby to sleep with her. "Mom, I've always wanted a baby sister!" Apparently she doesn't think of Lex as a baby sister but another girl.

We don't have ANY ideas for names yet. Dave is not yet ready to think of girl names. He is still trying to get used to the idea that he is going to have another "backpack" (the girls hang on him all the time and love to be his backpack)!

I am 20 weeks now. 1/2 way there. The drs (I go to a group) are willing to induce me a week early so I am going to go ahead and move my due date a week up in my mind. July 7 or 8 sound like good days to me. I'll just have to see who is working those days and pick who I want to deliver me!

Tressel is excited for another girl...he LOVES his girls!

So bummed this pic is out of focus, but you still get the idea of how fun storytime is! The girls fight over who gets to sit closest to (or on top of) the dog.

Congrats! This post is so sweet- should I be embarrassed that I got a bit chocked up reading about Calvin being the big brother to his little sisters or when you talked about Clare organizing all the little baby clothes and telling you she wants her baby sister in her room?

Well, someone has to have some girls in this family, and it certainly doesn't appear to be me. :)

I actually thought you'd have a girl. I've heard that if you have 4 kids, statistically speaking, it's much more likely you'll have 3 and 1, rather than 2 boys and 2 girls, or four in a row like I do. I'm not sure how scientific that is, but it holds true for almost everyone I know.

Congratulations though! Hope Dave's adjusting to the idea!

congratulations!! that is so fun. I was secretly hoping for a boy so these two cousins could be both boys, but your girls are so beautiful that there is little to be disappointed in for sure! How fun, how fun. We are so excited for you. I am being induced a week early too, so only 3 weeks left over here. Have fun this weekend, hope to be able to see you guys soon.

That's funny Clare doesn't think of Lex as her little sister. Lance keeps telling me he has two Dahlquist cousins--Calvin and Clare. When I ask about Lex, he's like, "She's not my cousin! She's just a baby!"
