good morning.

Clare likes to jump in bed and say good morning to Alexey.

Alexey loves clare -- even though she's pretty rough and sits right on top of her all the time -- she is full of smiles and giggles when clare is around.

lunch money

Yesterday I got an automated phone call from calvins school. This is what it said, “Hello this is ___school lunch department. Your child has a negative lunch money balance of negative 2 dollars.” Hmmmmm….interesting! I hadn’t forgotten to pack Calvin a lunch (yet) so I was wondering what that was all about. Here is the conversation with Calvin that I had as a result of this call.
“Hey Calvin, what did you have for lunch today?”
“well, my lunchable fell on the ground so I bought lunch.”
“Oh, what did you get?”
“ummm…chocolate milk and carrots, and apple”
“anything else?”
“A burrito, but I took one bite of it and then threw it away because I didn’t like it,”
“okay”
“Mom, I like buying lunch. I’m going to do that again tomorrow!”
“Calvin, did you know that buying lunch costs money?”
“no!”
“well, sometimes we will buy lunch, but usually we will pack lunch from home. Okay?”
“okay mom, but tomorrow I am going to buy lunch.”

The next day I sent $2 in his lunchbox. Then later I got another phone call from the school lunch people with the same automated message. Well, not quite the same because now his account balance was negative $4 (these lunch people are not going to like us)! Anyway, Calvin said he forgot to bring his lunch money in line. We can sign up online and pay for lunches in advance. I’ve got to figure out how to do that! My next door neighbor volunteers at lunch time and she was there helping Calvin both days. She said he is darling. I can totally picture him wandering around feeling all grown up “buying” his lunch. Pretty fun! I’m glad he is having such a good time.
